Description: “Elias Juan Pablo is a medium-scale farmer from the Yalanjuluj village in northern Guatemala. This village is on the outskirts of the Sierra de Los Cuchumatanes, the highest non-volcanic mountain range in Central America. He grows four varieties on the farm such as Pache, Bourbon, Caturra, and Catuia – all traditional varieties.”

Finca San Martín used to only grow native trees and it was not productive, but it had rich soil. Elias started planting less than half a hectare to experiment, evaluate his process, and guarantee he was doing things right, and until this day, he shares that coffee is continuously teaching him something new. The Finca San Martín is an inheritance from his father who passed away nine years ago. The farm is not only his heritage, but it is also a source of employment for the community and his family. He plans to continue growing the farm size to become more productive.
